$3.8 million for Saskatchewan community initiatives

The Saskatchewan Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) has announced that 279 Saskatchewan non-profit and volunteer organizations - including one in Yorkton - will collectively receive over $3.8 million in grants in support of their community projects.

The Saskatchewan Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) has announced that 279 Saskatchewan non-profit and volunteer organizations - including one in Yorkton - will collectively receive over $3.8 million in grants in support of their community projects.

Included in that amount is $25,000 for the Yorkton and area Big Brothers Big Sisters Life Skills in School Mentoring Program.

Through the Community Grant Program, the CIF approved 100 grants totaling $1,690,559 for programs that enhance the health and well being of Saskatchewan's vulnerable children, youth and families.

Grant approvals through the CIF's Community Vitality Program total $1,972,124 among 177 recipients. This includes 137 grants for capital projects totaling $1,524,253 and 40 grants for community pride projects and events totaling $447,871.

The Grants through this program provide support for small capital projects and for events that enhance community pride, celebrate diversity or mark an anniversary.
