A new assistance coach for the Yorkton Cardinals

It seems there has been a change near the top for the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) Yorkton Cardinals before the season officially began.

It seems there has been a change near the top for the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) Yorkton Cardinals before the season officially began. Sean Gamble who had originally signed on as assistant coach has had to pull out because of a career commitment this year announced Cardinals head coach and manager Bill Sobkow. The 30 year old Gamble who has been playing professional baseball in the U.S. was given an opportunity to finish his university degree which he has been putting off for baseball for some time, Sobkow explains.

Gamble, who is also into coaching, suggests he may be available to come to Yorkton next season, Sobkow adds.

The 2012 Cardinals have hired former Mesa State and Otero Junior College baseball player Riley Gallu as assistant coach for the season.

Gallu played at Otero JC under Gary Addington in 2001 and 02. Gallu sat out for 2003 because of a career ending shoulder injury.

Gallu began a highschool coaching career at Fort Collins, Colorado under Brad Deal. In 2010-11 he moved to Los Angeles and became an assistant at West Los Angeles CC.

After one year, Gallu moved back to Colorado and spent the spring coaching at the high school level again, this time with Columbine High.

Gallu graduated with a degree from Colorado State University along with his sister Molly, who was a softball player at CSU.
