The Yorkton Alexander's Junior Cardinals had a good week in the Optimist Junior Baseball League recording a tie, two wins and one loss for the week.
The Junior Cardinals tied the visiting Regina Red Sox 2-2 in the first game of a double header at Jubilee Park to start the week.
In the second game of the day, Cardinals batters dominated, pounding out eight hits to score 10 runs, half of them in the third inning on the way to a 10-3 win.
Sunday afternoon the Cardinals were in Moose Jaw taking on the Eagles in a double header at Ross Well Park in Moose Jaw. Yorkton claimed an 11-0 shutout win after five innings in Game 1 on the strength of a nine run third inning.
Junior Cardinals' pitcher Barrett Nielsen went the distance for Yorkton allowing only three hita and striking out eight batters while holding the Eagles off the scoreboard.
Ben Walchuk earned three RBIs with three hits and scored a run.
Justin Stupak pounded out a double and came home for one run.
Luke Boechler hit a pair of singles, drove in a run and scored two runs.
Ross Stillborn hit a single and a double to bring home two runs.
Nielsen and Braedon Ferch each drove home one run while Dalane Lamb scored twice and Jayden Shwaga and Scott Sharp each came home for one run apiece.
The Eagles bounced back in the second game to clinch a 6-3 after six innings on the strength of a four run third inning and adding two in the fifth.
Stillborn started for the Junior Cardinals giving up a pair of earned runs on five hits.
Cards' reliever Stupak gave up four earned runs in six hits.
Nielsen, Boechler and Stillborn crossed the plate for one run apiece.
Wakchuk, Stillborn and Shwaga each drove in an RBI in the game.
The week sees the Junior Cardinals currently at the top of the Optimist Junior League standings with a record of 5-2-1 in eight games.
In the South East Senior Baseball League (SESBL), the visiting Canora Supers downed the Junior Cardinals 6-3 at Jubilee Park Tuesday evening.
The loss leaves the Junior Cardinals trailing the Supers in the SESBL with a record of 6-1 for 12 points to Canora's 14 points.
