The Yorkton Cardinals finished the 2011 Western Major Baseball League season with a record of 14-26, finishing in fourth place in the East Division.

The Yorkton Cardinals finished the 2011 Western Major Baseball League season with a record of 14-26, finishing in fourth place in the East Division.

With another season at Jubilee Park in the books, the Yorkton Cardinals would like to thank their fans, volunteers, billet families and sponsors for their support in 2011.

The Cardinals would also like to congratulate N.D Gonzalez, who was named to the WMBL First All-Star team. Gonzalez finished the year with a 4-1 record and a sparkling 2.09 ERA, striking out 64 batters in 51.2 innings pitched. He tossed two complete game shutouts, held opposing batters to a .183 batting average, and also recorded a save.

Outfielder James Green also gave the Cardinals faithful plenty to cheer about this summer, leading the WMBL with 36 stolen bases. He also drew 34 walks - good for third in the circuit. All those walks contributed to his team-leading .433 on-base percentage.

Ghazelah Sailors made history on June 3 in Regina when she became the first female to play in the Western Major Baseball League. On the season she pitched in 18 games, including a pair of starts, and finished with an 0-1 record and a 6.75 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched.

Lefthander Max McDonald was a workhorse out of the bullpen, appearing in 19 games, and pitching a total of 40 innings - all in relief. He posted a 2-1 record with a 4.73 ERA and five saves.

The Cardinals organization had some luck finding some Western Canadian talent for their roster this summer.

Surrey, B. C. Native Kevin McLeod led the team with a .294 batting average and ranked second on the roster in both RBI (14) and stolen bases (9).

Second-year Cardinal Jon Mihic also had a strong season. The Langley, B.C. product finished second on the team with a .279 average, belted a pair of home runs, and led Yorkton with 18 RBI on the season.
