Synchro Sask. is very pleased to congratulate Regina Synchro, the Yorkton Aquabatix and the Estevan Mermaids who qualified to receive funds from the 2010-11 Synchro Canada Club Excellence Program.
The Club Excellence Program, now in its third year, encourages clubs to streamline their operational guidelines in order to help develop better athletes, coaches and club programs with the main objective to keep Synchro Canada among the world's elite in synchronized swimming.
While respecting the specific needs of each club that applies for the program, Synchro Canada reviews various criteria such as daily operations, marketing, and the hosting and planning of competitions.
This year, Synchro Canada raised the total grant for the Club Excellence Program from $14,000 last year to $18,000. Consequently, 17 clubs got a grant from the 2010-2011 Club Excellence Program compared to 15 last year. Of these 17 three were from Saskatchewan which received over $4500 which is 25 per cent of the total.
"On behalf of Synchro Saskatchewan, I wish to congratulate our three clubs on their success with this program," says Brenda Lyons, President of Synchro Sask. "It is quite notable that we have three out of the 17 clubs. These funds will assist with future club programming which benefits all of their members," Lyons adds.
The amount that each club received varied between $5,540 and $2,077.50 for clubs in the Gold category, $692.50 for Silver and $346.25 for Bronze.
Synchro Canada Club Excellence awards presented to Saskatchewan synchronized swim clubs included: Gold Club Category - Regina Synchro, Regina; $3,462.50; Silver Club Category - Yorkton Aquabatix Synchro, $692.50; Bronze Club Category - Estevan Mermaids $346.25.
