The mild temperatures over the weekend were perfect for folks to get out and enjoy the snow. Approximately 1,200 guests flocked to their favorite winter destination for some skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing and even a few for snowbiking.

"A new partnership between Asessippi and CAA attracted a number of new people with a very special sleep and ski offer for the opening weekend," says Roz Pulo, director of marketing for the resort.

Additionally, a number of other events contributed to the success of the weekend, from the first week of the Nancy Greene program to the CSIA convention plus the annual Asessippi Get Amped freestyle competition.

Over the last few years Asessippi Ski Area & Resort has made a number of upgrades to their snowmaking system and this season they really paid off. With a record 43 snow guns all running simultaneously the resort was able to open with 14 runs, one terrain park and the downhill snow tubing park. It is expected all 25 runs will be open by the holidays.

There are more great events this weekend, Saturday Santa will be on the slopes and in the village for photos and will be handing out treats for the kids. Sunday is World Snowboard Day and to celebrate Asessippi will be offering all snowboard rentals at 50 per cent off and group snowboard lessons 50 per cent off. Plus there will be a mini comp/rail jam in the park, with no cost to enter.
