Yorkton's Francis Bazin had great success at the national team trials in Toronto. The team trial event was a double elimination format with the medalists from the national championship held in Winnipeg earlier this year.

Bazin was top ranked in his division had the initial round. His first match was against a strong competitor from Nova Scotia. At the end of the second round the score was 3-3. Bazin had a very strong third round and winning the match 7-3.

The Nova Scotian competitor had to fight against an Ontario fighter. The winner of that match would then challenge Bazin for the team spot.

The Nova Scotian advanced to take on Bazin once again. Bazin came out on top again in a close game, advancing to represent Canada at the Junior Pan-Am championships scheduled for October 6-9 in Las Vegas. The Pan-Am is a very big event and it's a great honour for Bazin to win a place on the Canadian team.
