Bowl for Kids' Sake sets new fundraising record

Yorkton Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) staged another highly successful Bowl for Kids' Sake event at the Yorkton Bowl Arena recently, raising a grand total of $33,544.86, the largest amount raised so far says BBBS executive director Irma Van de Bon.

Yorkton Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) staged another highly successful Bowl for Kids' Sake event at the Yorkton Bowl Arena recently, raising a grand total of $33,544.86, the largest amount raised so far says BBBS executive director Irma Van de Bon.

The top pledge collector, Roger Arndt of Langenburg. The young student says it wasn't hard to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters as people were generous.

Arndt, a 'big brother' himself, selected the West Jet tickets as his grand prize, proving his own generosity by announcing that he was taking his 'little brother' to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Overall results of the 2011 Bowl for Kids' Sake fund raiser were: Top Individual Pladers - Roger Arndt raised $3,018.75 to claim the grand prize; Deana Jesmer, $1,110.17; Ann Kendel, $1,055; Tam-my Bobyk, $1,015; Naomi Dickson $1,000; Carson Pinno, $913; Crystal Wil-cocks, $751.14; Scott Fitzsimmons, $750. Top Challenge Winners - Business Challenge: LDM Foods, five teams raised $2,694.66. Organ-ization Challenge: Sask Abilities, three teams raised $2,081.43. Fin-ancial Institution Challenge: Scotiabank two teams raised $2,694.66. Media Challenge: The Rock and Rollers (100.5 The Rock) raised $1,030. Service Club Challenge: Knights of Columbus Knight Riders $966.50. Theme Team Challenge: Elbow Benders $1,695. Highest Scoring Team - Sask. Abilities Celebrity Wannabees-2 Hot Score of 1240. Pizza Party Winner - Parrish and Heimbecker Ltd., The PH Unknowns. Note: All teams raising over $500.00 were entered in a draw for a Pizza Party at Boston Pizza.

Yorkton Big Brothers Big Sisters thank all the teams, including all participants, supporters, volunteers, and MC's who helped to make Bowl For Kids Sake a huge success. A special thanks to Yorkton Bowl Arena for hosting the event and to the Anavets for sponsoring the hall for the Hospitality Room.
