The Yorkton Bulldogs junior box lacrosse team opened its season on the road with a pair of losses. The Bulldogs fell to the Regina Riot 10-2 in their season opener and then suffered a controversial 11-13 loss to the Regina Rifles in a game which is currently under protest.

Returning to Yorkton for a pair of weekend games, the Bulldogs went on to tie their home opener 10-10 with the visiting Moose Jaw Mustangs Saturday night at the Kinsmen Arena.

Sunday afternoon the Bulldogs dispatched the Estevan Big Dogs 15-7.

Tyson Hass led the Bulldog's scoring attack with three goals and five assists against the Big Dogs.

Justin Genaille and Zach Soke added three goals and earned a pair of assists apiece in the game.

Dalton Bakke and Jayden Dozorec each scored twice.

Brayden Kaczur and Jackson Tetreault each contributed a goal to the Bulldogs tally.

Tarus McEwan earned two assists while Mackenzie Shore was credited with an assist.

Bulldogs goalie Louden Choptuik played a solid game holding Estevan to seven goals on the way to the win.

Bulldogs head coach Joe Choptuik says the team currently carries 18 players on his roster. Choptuik sees defense as the key to winning for the team. "We have to keep them from scoring goals," he declares.

The Bulldogs will play their next four games at home which should be an advantage, Choptuik suggests. Next weekend the Bulldogs will host the Regina Rifles and the Prince Albert Predators.
