Cadet year wraps up

The 2834 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corp held its annual ceremonial review on Saturday, June 13. The weather was perfect for a parade and review, and the kids enjoyed demonstrating the skills they learned as part of their cadet year.

The 2834 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corp held its annual ceremonial review on Saturday, June 13. The weather was perfect for a parade and review, and the kids enjoyed demonstrating the skills they learned as part of their cadet year.

The reviewing officer at the ceremony was Major C.W.J. LaRocque, CD, Chief of Staff at CFB/ASU Shilo. This was his last official duty in uniform, before retiring in July. He was one of the first cadets in the 2834 RCACC when he joined in 1968.

A number of awards were given out at the ceremony.

Cdt. L. Pareis received the Ladies Auxiliary Legion Trophy for Proficiency in Training - level 2.

Cdt. S. Dudley received the Capt. Florness Trophy for Proficiency in Training - level 3.

Cdt. L. Pareis received the 64th Battery Mess Trophy for Most Improved Cadet.

Cdt. R. Loretz received the Capt. L.A. Nijssen Trophy for Esprit de Corps.

Cdt. L. Pareis and Cdt. F. Slater received the Capt. W. Gaitens Trophy for Best Attendance.

Cdt. B. Lubiniecki received he W.O. Pede Trophy for Top Marksman.

Cdt. S. Dudley received the Capt. Warminger Trophy for Best Personal Deportment.

Cdt. F. Slater received the Orville Pede Trophy for Most Improved Marksman.

Cdt. A. Andruseik, Cdt. S. Dudley, Cdt. L. Pareis, and Cdt. A. Popowich received the Capt. P. Jaques Citizenship Award.
