WMBL YORKTON CARDINALS Player of the Week David Hole comes from Vancouver, B.C. The six foot 205 pound first baseman/centre fielder attended Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops B.C.

Hole, who has pounded out a home run early in the season and knocked out a pair of doubles against Melville Wednesday night, says he didn't anticipate he'd do this well this early in the season considering it's his first year in the league. "You have to enjoy success while you can," he declares.

Hole played in the British Columbia premier league from Grade 10 to Grade 12, batting with a wood bat as well as at Thompson University which some believe gave him a bit of an edge in the WMBL.

He admits the Cardinals have given up too many runs in the past six games. "When you give up more than four runs a game, the defense is usually doing something wrong," he suggests. He says the team is making too many errors, missing cutoffs from the outfield. While the pitching seems to be picking up, the team needs to shape up defensively, Hole states. "Defense wins championships. We're not in a championship yet. We need to pick the defense and win some ball games, that's for sure," he closes.
