The WMBL?Cardinals took to the road this past week for four games in Alberta.

The Cards went 0-4 on the roadtrip after being humbled twice by the defending champion Okotoks Dawgs and another two times by the Lethbridge Bulls.

The Cardinals began the trip last Friday with a 15-4 loss at the hands of the Dawgs.

The game was played at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks in front of 1998 fans.

Cards pitcher Max McDonald (1-1) was tagged with the loss. McDonald went five innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out two.

Dawgs first baseman Jeff Harkensee abused the Yorkton pitching and recorded 4 RBI in the process.

The McAlpine brothers (Duncan and Thomas) responded for the Cardinals with an RBI each.

Most of the damage done on the night happened in the bottom of the fifth as Okotoks recorded seven runs. They followed it up with five more in the sixth to put the game completely out of reach.

The Dawgs were even less gracious to their guests the next night, pounding the Cardinals 13-1 in front of a crowd of nearly 3,000 fans.

Dawgs pitcher Desmond Sullivan picked up his second win on the year while Cards pitcher Jeff Chase?(1-2), coming off of two very solid starts, was lit up for eight earned runs during four innings.

Shortstop Jon Reed paced the Dawgs attack by going four for five with four hits on the night.

Jon Mihic recorded the only RBI for the Cardinals.

Similar to the night before, the Dawgs really got the ball rolling in the bottom of the fifth scoring seven runs. That pushed the lead to 11-0 and put the game completely out of hand.

The Cardinals stranded seven men on base.

The Yorktonites sought to make amends for their performance in Okotoks by beating the Lethbridge Bulls on Saturday night.

While the effort was better, unfortunately the results were not there.

The Bulls won 6-3 in front of 576 fans at Spitz Stadium dropping the Cardinals record to 4-8.

Lethbridge pitcher Aaron Baker had an outstanding night as he stuck out ten batters for the win.

Jordan Herbison (0-2)?took the loss and lasted only four innings after giving up seven hits and five earned runs.

Shortstop Nic Lindsay was a bright spot on the evening for Yorkton, going 2-4 with two hits and an RBI.

Things did not improve on Sunday night.

The?Cardinals drop-ped their fourth straight with a 6-1 loss to Lethbridge.

Cardinals pitcher Josh Wesson put forth a valiant effort in the loss. Wesson pitched six innings and stuck out four while giving up only two earned runs.

David Kaplan had the only RBI on the night for Yorkton. The Cards were out-hit, barely, 7-6.

The Cardinals returned home on Thursday, June 24 for a back-to-back set against the Edmonton Prospects.
