Just over 80 nominations have been received for the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce 2014 Celebrate Success Business Awards event.

Carol Yaholnitsky, Co-Chair of the Celebrate Success Committee says she is surprised with the number of nominations.

"We are rather disappointed by the number of nominations, however, when you look at the list of the nominees, the quality of nominations is excellent."

For past Celebrate Success events, the average has been over 100 nominations.

Laurie Fedorowich, the other Co-Chair of the committee agrees. "Of the nine categories in which businesses can be nominated, over 70 businesses are represented."

The tenth category is Community Merit and it is for organizations and events. "The nominations that have been received for Community Merit are for some outstanding contributors to the community."

The nominees will have until Friday February 28 to complete their nomination packages. They have the option of submitting written responses to the questions or a video.

Once the packages are all in, Juanita Polegi, Executive Director indicated the judging process will begin.

"An independent panel of seven judges will be convened to review the nominations and select the Award recipients," she explains.

"A luncheon announcing the finalists will be held Thursday March 13 at the Painted Hand Casino."

The 2014 Celebrate Success Business Awards event is slated for Wednesday, April 2 at St. Mary's Cultural Centre. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Awards will follow.
