Where would we be without them?
This week provides a unique opportunity to say thank you to all of the entrepreneurs in the province. These are the people who get the wheels rolling. The people who don't take "no" for an answer. They don't talk about things they would like to see, they make them happen and our hats go off to them.
October 20-26 is Small Business Week in Saskatchewan and it's a fine time to celebrate all they do for us.
"Small businesses employ thousands of people across the province and account for a third of our GDP," Economy Minister Bill Boyd points out.
"Our positive economic growth has contributed to an increase in small businesses by 6.8 per cent from 2011 to 2012 and we expect this trend to continue into the future."
In fact, statistics say the majority of Saskatchewan businesses, 98.4 per cent, are classified as small business (0-49 employees). In 2012, the sector employed 144,000 people and contributed $15.5 billion to our gross domestic product.
Small business truly is BIG business in Saskatchewan. You are truly appreciated not during this week alone, but all year round!
