The city of Yorkton has teamed up with Sask. Lacrosse and the Yorkton Bulldogs box lacrosse team to spark additional interest in lacrosse for younger players in the area.

Stephanie Lockhart, City of Yorkton Urban Youth Sport Coordinator, says the clinic held over the weekend also helped to gauge interest in both box lacrosse and field lacrosse in the general population.

The response was very good, says Lockhart. The young participants seemed to be having a good time. "Everybody's smiling, laughing, running. They're being active," Lockhart reports.

Currently Yorkton has one competitive box lacrosse team, the Yorkton Bulldogs which plays in the eight team Prairie Gold Lacrosse League Junior Division.

Lockhart would like to see more youngsters involved with the sport.
