At approximately 3:00 pm on July 23, members of the Yorkton Rural Detachment, Yorkton Regional Traffic Services, Foam Lake Fire and Rescue and EMS responded to the scene of a fatal, head on collision between a semi unit and passenger car on Hwy #16 approximately 4 km E. of Theodore.
The east bound car collided with the west bound semi unit. Two occupants of the car were declared deceased at the scene and a third was transported to Yorkton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi unit was unharmed.
Highway #16 was closed at the scene and traffic was re-routed for approximately 6 hours as the cause of the collision was investigated.
The family has granted permission to release the names of the deceased, 37 year old Deloris Taniskishayinew of Tisdale and 28 year old Tracey Taniskishayinew of the Yellowquill First Nation.
