Sacred Heart High School's going to Camp Rock, and they're inviting you to come along. The school's upcoming musical is based on the Disney production, and will ring in December with song and dance.
The show, explains Teresa Hartman, is about a group of teenagers who go to camp. Their rivals across the lake challenge them to a singing competition, and it's about their trials and tribulations during the event.
Hartman says that the decision to go with Camp Rock was based partially on it being a fun family musical that everyone could enjoy, and partly on the cast being well suited to take on the material and put their own stamp on it.
"We have a very strong group of very talented singers this year," Hartman says.
Just having a quality cast isn't enough to get a production running smoothly though, and Hartman notes that everyone's working hard to get the show ready for prime time. Students are rehearsing five nights a week, and the other aspects of production are coming together.
"All the little pieces are coming together, they're working really, really hard," she explains.
There will be four performances, December 1, 2 and 3 at 7 p.m., or the matinee at 2 p.m. on December 4. Tickets are available at SHHS, Loucks Pharmacy and M&M Meat Shops.
