An evening fire in Yorkton Tuesday has left two local businesses unable to open their doors for service.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday evening Yorkton Fire Protective Services responded to a structure fire on 1st Ave North in the city. Fire crews performed an interior attack on the building which housed the city's only drycleaning business as well as an accounting establishment. They managed to contain the fire to the basement with minor extension to the main floor. The fire was brought under control in about an hour. Minor smoke damage was reported in adjoining businesses and there were no injuries sustained during the incident. The fire is believed to be caused by an electrical malfunction.

Shortly after 3 a.m., fire crews responded another call, this time a head on collision between a semi trailer carrying fuel and a car on Queen St. near Allanbrooke Dr. A man who was trapped in his vehicle needed to be extricated and then was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries. There is no update on the condition of this individual at the time of this release. The fuel from the semi was contained and the semi driver was uninjured.
