Do we really need another hospital?

To the Editor: Do we in Yorkton, need a new hospital? Or do we need a VIA Rail to Saskatoon, Regina, etc? Our medical doctors refer us (patients) to specialists everywhere. It was remarked that technology out grows our hospital.

Our medical doctors refer us (patients) to specialists everywhere. It was remarked that technology out grows our hospital. What safety device or foresight can we depend upon to ensure us of encompassing the technology that is forthcoming a year, or five, or 10 years down the road? Are we going to build another building or referral centre?

It was stated that the present facility makes it difficult and awkward for nurses to know whom they are working with because of the location of their base. The patients have the same problem.

Perhaps uniforms and name tags indicating or distinguishing certified nurses from the maintenance engineers and/or the CEO could be used. Remember when nurses were proud to be identified by their uniform?

Donating for essential equipment does not fall into the category of want, wish or desire... as with arenas, theatres, parks, etc. Everyone needs the use of this equipment therefore public funding should be the source.
