Yorkton's Mckenzie Dull started synchronized swimming in the 2008/2009 season as a recreational swimmer training one hour a week was recently named the Most Improved Tier 2-5 Athlete at the Synchro Sask. awards banquet in Saskatoon.

After unsuccessfully trying to attain her Star 3 level in 2008/2009, Dull then started the 2009/2010 season in August with private lessons in hopes of attempting the Star 3 again. Her instructor thought it would be possible to achieve with some hard work.

By February of 2010 the young swimmer earned a Star 5 level enabling her to compete in the Tier 2 category for the competitive season.

When Dull started to believe in herself and her abilities, the physical improvements really started to show. Her placings in figures through the competitive season were not at the top, but only two weeks before the MASY CHALLENGE the coach was warning the other swimmers to watch out, because this swimmer might surprise everyone in Saskatoon. And she did in grand style. Dull finished her season at the MASY challenge by achieving the highest mark out of all her teammates in the figure event with a 5.5 in her ballet leg figure, an incredible feat considering how she started her season in August.

The young athlete may be small for her age, but her coaches predict that she will be one pint sized powerhouse in the future.
