Saskia and Darrel are on tour through OSAC "Stars for Saskatchewan" and they've decided to make a Yorkton stop along their musical journey.
What do you get when you cross a Dutch, new-age, alto-soprano, folk, roots, singer from a Classical background with a North Saskatchewan, country-blues-rock guitar playing Métis - some would say sparks!
Dynamic and powerful duo Saskia and Darrel present an original blend ofPrairie Roots music; an unpredictable series of songs that change every night. They delight their audience with stories about Louis Riel and David Thompson and then to everyone's surprise will break into Swiss yodeling, or sing in Gaelic, Dutch, German or French.
They are a powerful presence in their field; Winning Top 5 people's choice awards, hitting the top on MSN radio's National top 30 countdown, Folk Album of the Year in Holland, and being nominated for Album of the Year, and four times Aboriginal Artist of the year in Saskatchewan. Their music is blithely described as "Prairie Roots," Canadiana, with a Dutch Touch.
Under the shelter of their own company "Positive Note Productions" the pair is cultivating an immense following across Canada and Europe, winning over their fans one small town; one small theatre, one small country hall at a time.
Saskia and Darrel will be performing in Yorkton at the 5th Ave Cup 'n Saucer, (60-5th Ave) on Thursday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. For more information call (306) 890-0184.
