The Yorkton McSweeney Selects and the Sask. Volleyball Association hosted the ASICS Cup 3, U18 volleyball tournament at the Gallagher Centre Flexihall and at M.C. Knoll and St. Michael's School gyms over the weekend.
Since there is no U18 team in Yorkton, there was no local team entered.
There was, however, a local player playing in the tournament. Emma Lockhart, a senior at the Yorkton Regional High School (YRHS) played as a member of the Pipestone Crocs Black team.
Lockhart enjoys volleyball so much that she travels eight hours to attend team practices because there is no girls' U18 team in Yorkton. She has been with the team for about two and a half months, she says.
With provincials taking place the first weekend in May, the club volleyball season will wrap up soon, Lockhart notes. A senior at YRHS, Lockhart would like to continue to play volleyball. She's currently checking out the programs at Medicine Hat and the University of Regina.
The Pipestone Valley Crocs Black team was part of the Kelvington contingent.
