Garry Breitkreuz, Member of Parliament for Yorkton-Melville, is letting constituents know about the recently launched call for proposals for community projects that address issues of violence and economic security affecting women and girls living in rural and remote communities as well as small urban centres.

"Women living in remote areas face specific challenges regarding economic security and violence. With this call for proposals by Rona Ambrose, Minister for Status of Women, we are addressing these needs," comments Breitkreuz.

"Our government is committed to supporting local projects that improve the lives of women and girls. We're proud to work with community organizations to help end violence against women, improve their economic situation, and promote women as community leaders."

While Status of Women Canada accepts applications to the Women's Program on an ongoing basis, the call for this particular intake will end November 4, 2011.
