Harley Davidson of Yorkton hosted the annual Test Our Metal demo ride at the dealership recently. The event allowed enthusiasts to test ride the latest Harley Davidson motorcycles the company has to offer.
Anthony Corsini, the western Canadian Harley Davidson representative, says this year the demo ride features 20 motorcycles and one trike. The first half of the tour started with the 2011 models. As the result of a recent switch over, the Yorkton ride featured the newest 2012 models, Corsini reports.
The tour is heading west from Yorkton and will to B.C. to take in the national HOG rally. The tour will continue to visit Harley Davidson dealerships in B.C. and Alberta until about mid-October, he states.
One of the new models on the truck this year is the 2012 Switch Back which has a Dyna chasis and a touring front end. "That's a brand new model for 2012. We just put that one on the truck a couple of weeks ago and it's been very well received," Corsini says.
Crowds are good with enthusiastic people which makes his job fun, he suggests. "We're passionate about motorcycles too, so it's nice to have that in common with our customers and just to share that as part of the experience," Corsini closes.
Rick Dawson of Yorkton Harley Davidson says the demo day was great with great weather for riding. While a Friday demo ride brings out fewer riders, it's usually the more serious folks who do come out, Dawson claims.
The local HOG chapter members were on hand running a barbecue and generally keeping things in order.
While Dawson admits an event such as this helps sales, that's not the most important aspect as far as he's concerned. He suggests it's a good time for people to wind out of their summer, try a few bikes so that if they make their decision in the winter they'll know what they're thinking about.
