The Health Foundation's Gala Evening in Paris had a successful year, selling out and raising $43,500 for Cardiac Stress Test equipment for the Sunrise Health Region.
"Gala is a great evening," says Diane Rusnak, Chair of the Gala committee. "More and more we see people are looking for an opportunity to go out and have fun in a good atmosphere. Part of the Gala experience is the ambience, with the beautiful decorations and the little extras that you don't see at any other event. Gala is meant to be a special night out, and our committee works hard every year to create something special and memorable for our guests."
The event was limited to 350 guests, and Rusnak says the reason for the limit is to ensure the best experience for those attending the event, as going higher makes it more difficult to serve the meal as well as limiting space on the dance floor.
This is the 18th year of the Health Foundation Gala, and in those 18 years the event has raised $445,000 for medical equipment in the Sunrise Health Region.
Rusnak would like to thank the sponsors of the event, who provided raffle prizes, decorations and photography. The silent auction portion of the event is a significant part of the evening's success, with $12,650 being raised through that portion of the evening.
Rusnak says that the success of the Gala event is that it's a combination of fun and for a cause people can get behind.
"Anytime you can raise money and all the people making donations are having fun and enjoying themselves, then you must be doing something right... This Gala evening was very successful; the people who attended had fun. Our guests had a great meal, and were able to dance to a wonderful band that played a real range of music that fit in with the eclectic mix of guests we have at Gala."
