The Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation is working with individuals, communities and organizations across the province to preserve the province's architectural heritage and maintain its cultural resources.
This week the foundation announced the results of its second and final grant adjudication for the 2012-13 fiscal year.
A total of 32 proposals were reviewed and $167,700 was allocated to 22 initiatives. Funding was provided for projects in the following categories: 16 conservation, six research, and one special project. Individual grants ranged from $1,905 for exterior rehabilitation of the CN Water Tower in the community of Harris, to $5,000 for continued archaeological investigation of the Original Humboldt historic site, to $30,000 to assist with the ongoing conservation of the landmark Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Saskatoon.
"Projects supported through the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation's grant programs develop pride in our province and promote tourism opportunities through the sensitive rehabilitation of landmark structures," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Kevin Doherty comments.
"By working together, individuals, organizations and communities across the province preserve our shared heritage, thereby building a stronger Saskatchewan."

The Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation is a government agency that works closely with the Heritage Conservation Branch of the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport. In addition to its funding activities, the foundation is mandated to acquire, manage and develop real and moveable property in the name of the Crown, and accept the donation of cash monies, property and other bequests.
