Losing weight is a struggle for many people, and a new business in Yorkton plans to help people shed those extra pounds. Ideal Weight Solutions has opened a branch in Yorkton.

Owner Sheila Hintz says she decided to begin the business after the Ideal Protein program helped her lose weight. She says that her own journey towards improving her health has given her the drive to help others with the same goal.

The program is designed to help people lose fat, but keep lean muscle mass, something Hintz says is unique to the Ideal Protein program, and essential to keeping weight down.

"Without lean muscle mass, you have no engine to burn the extra fat off of your body," Hintz notes.

The system uses a high quality protein Hintz notes, and she says the body needs that protein in order to drop extra weight. She notes that many people do not get enough protein, leading to them carrying more weight.

So far, Hintz has lost 65 lbs. under the program, and she says that it still hasn't sunk in that she's lost all that weight. She says she feels great and healthier than she has in a long time, but that it's still strange to see a new person in the mirror, one who is much smaller than before. She keeps an old picture of herself in the office, to show the difference the program can make.

"I feel that because I have walked that road myself, I hope that I can be more relatable to people in their journey. Losing 65 lbs, you've had bumps in the road, you've had some highs and some lows, but it makes you more relatable, when you have people who want to lose 10 lbs. or 100 lbs," Hintz says.

The initial reaction has been positive, Hintz notes, and people are interested in seeing the unique parts of the program work and how they can change their lives. She also notes that it's not just about losing weight, but maintaining a healthy weight.

"We are about helping people to become healthier," Hintz says.

She encourages interested people to visit the store at 8 First Ave. North in Yorkton to learn more about the program and what it entails.
