SGI reminds motorists there is zero drug and alcohol tolerance for drivers under 19 years of age, and for all drivers in the Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program and Motorcycle GDL program.
During the month, police also issued 1,847 tickets for speeding, 135 tickets for cellphone use while driving, and 171 tickets to people not using a seatbelt, car seat or booster seat.
SGI encourages motorists to always plan a safe ride home. Choose a designated driver in advance, call a cab, call a friend or family member to pick you up, use a designated driving service, or take the bus. SGI has a free SafeRide app to help you keep track of your options.
