Re: "Occupy Canada protesters set up camp, prepare for next step." Edmonton Journal, Oct. 16, 2011.
Thanks to the Internet, the super rich financial elite no longer have a complete monopoly over the mass media. Common people are now able to by pass traditional information sources and to communicate with each other. Gradually the truths about corporate greed and corruption are being exposed.
But the common people have a daunting challenge if they are to change society to be more just and humane. The super wealthy have many more weapons in their arsenal. They can afford to buy off politicians, to hide behind privacy and confidentiality legislation, and to provide themselves with military and police security.
In a contest between fat cats and hungry mice, it is the cats who usually win.
