Input sought for conceptual plan

Conceptual plans are in development for the Yorkton Regional Health Centre campus and for an integrated health care facility in Canora.

Conceptual plans are in development for the Yorkton Regional Health Centre campus and for an integrated health care facility in Canora. Two community meetings will be held to gather ideas from the public about the vision of care in Sunrise Health Region into the future.

A Community Meeting will be held in Canora on September 19 starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Rainbow Hall. The primary focus of this meeting is for services in the Canora area but since all health facilities in the region support the entire population, everyone is welcome.

An additional meeting will be held at in Yorkton at the Gallagher Centre, Wellington Room on September 20 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the Yorkton Regional Health Centre including buildings that house the hospital, mental health, home care, public health and regional administration services. The meeting is open to all persons in the health region, as the regional health centre serves everyone.

The goal of the Conceptual Plan process is to envision health care environments that create a positive experience for patients, families and caregivers. Plans must be submitted to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health before projects can be considered for capital funding. It can take years from planning until construction of a new facility. Sunrise Health Region will continue to upgrade and maintain the existing buildings to support health care in these communities until the facilities are replaced.
