In recognition of Saskatchewan teachers and support staff, Education Minister Russ Marchuk proclaimed the week of February 10-17, 2013 as Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week.
"We have phenomenal teachers working here in Saskatchewan. I have seen great things happening in classrooms across the province and heard impressive stories about teachers who really are making a difference in the lives of students," Marchuk says. "We need to take opportunities like Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week to highlight and thank our teachers and support staff for their hard work and dedication. They all play integral roles in the success of our students."
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is recognized nationally by the Canadian Home and School Federation as a way to recognize the personal and professional contributions that teachers and school staff make to children and their education. Marking the 26th consecutive year, this year the Saskatchewan Association of School Councils will celebrate the theme "Inspiring Success" to highlight the teacher-student relationship and the positive impact teachers and school staff have on a student's academic success.
