Three local track and field athletes represented the Yorkton Legion Track and Field Club in competition at the Junior Nationals Championships for track and field in Winnipeg, Manitoba recently.

Long distance runner Avery Westberg finished 23rd overall in women's 3000m with a time of 11:36.90 and 25th overall in women's 1500m with time of 5:20.94.

Kyla Bassingthwaite earned an 11th place in the women's hammer throw final with a toss of 33.61 meters, 14th overall in women's javelin with a throw of 29.96 meters, and 22nd overall in women's discus with a distance of 28.30 meters.

Preston Liebrecht placed 10th in men's high jump final with a leap of 1.80 meters, 21st overall in men's 100m in a time of 11.50, and 21st overall in men's 200m finishing with a time of 22.80.

Stephanie Sawchuk, who competed as an unattached athlete, finished 19th overall in women's long jump with a jump of 5.09 meters, 21st overall in women's triple jump jumping 10.35 meters, and 24th overall in women's 100m with a time of 13.18.
