The Kinsmen and Kinettes have been an integral part of Yorkton for 65 years, and Yorkton City Council has proclaimed the week of February 14-20 as Kinsmen and Kinettes week, and February 20 as Kinsmen and Kinettes day.

The membership of the Kinsmen numbers 22 and there are 17 in the Kinettes.

February will be a busy month for the group, as the many events raising money for Telemiracle will be taking place until the event takes place on March 5 and 6. These events include a Catch and Release event on February 11 and a steak fundraiser the weekend before Telemiracle.

Lana Klemetski, president of the Yorkton Kinettes, says that the area has raised $3.9 million in the past, which has gone back into the community through the many projects which the Kinsmen and Kinettes support.

February 20 is an important day for Kin Canada, since in 2011 it marks 91 years since the Kinsmen were founded by Hal Rogers.
