Young local martial arts athlete, Colton LaBelle, a student in the Youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program at the Yorkton Martial Arts Training Center, travelled to Calgary, AB for the Alberta Open Grappling Tournament hosted by Gracie-Barra.

LaBelle weighed in too heavy for his 12 year-old division and was bumped up into the 13-15 year- old group. He subsequently gave up weight to his competitors and despite the disadvantage, LaBelle was never submitted and was able to showcase his new yellow belt skills. His wrestling was dominant and he scored an impressive takedown and sweep on an opponent 50 pounds and five years his senior. Unfortunately Colton finished out of the medals but deserves big congratulations on his perseverance in a very difficult division.
