The REAL opportunities exist through the province's residents and THAT is the REAL story.
Earlier this week Premier Brad Wall and Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison unveiled a new three-year national marketing campaign to promote Saskatchewan as a great place to live, work, invest and do business.
A good plan? The concept is there but is this the best way to go about showcasing our province and all that it has to offer?
Wall says the campaign theme - "Real Growth, Real Opportunity" - describes the energy and optimism in the "new Saskatchewan".
"Saskatchewan is a great place to invest and do business, and we want to deliver that message to a national and international audience," Wall states. "This campaign is an effective way of getting that message out."
So effective believes Wall, that the province is forking out $1.3 million for 2010-11 and $700,000 for 2011-12. The budget for the third year has yet to be announced.
"More than ever before, Saskatchewan is top of mind for people and investors across Canada and around the world," Harrison adds. "This campaign is not focused within our borders because the people of our province already know Saskatchewan is a great place to live and work. This is an opportunity to show the rest of the world why Saskatchewan is leading the country forward."
But DO all Saskatchewan residents know and actually experience the beauty within our province?
Wouldn't we, the people of Saskatchewan be the best spokes people and ambassadors if we truly believed in the merits our province had to offer?
Let's face it, the world and its people are all connected via the internet. It doesn't matter if you live in Yorkton or in Paris, we are all connected and can communicate. What about the concept of spending the money WITHIN our own borders to continue to improve quality of life so WE the actual Saskatchewan residents might tell or own positive stories to the world and in turn attract investors and newcomers? What better sales pitch could there be than that?
If the people themselves - the average Joes Of Saskatchewan - aren't boasting about their home province there's little hope fancy, paid for ads will accomplish the task at hand.
