To the Editor:
In 2007, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce's Growth Strategy challenged the province to grow our economy and population like never before. We aimed for 1.5 million people by 2030 and we are now on track towards achieving that goal.
Throughout this election campaign, there have been a lot of promises made and it will soon be time for each of us to cast our ballots for the party that we feel will provide the leadership we need. Before you vote, please consider how each party plans to position Saskatchewan and how their various plans will impact our future economic and population growth.
A growing economy benefits everyone. It creates jobs and supports higher wages. Without growth, government revenues are lower, which means there is less money for health care, social programs, infrastructure investments and the education of our young people.
A growing Saskatchewan, and all of the opportunities it offers, needs to be supported by good public policy decisions. Policies that will encourage expansion opportunities for businesses, as well as encourage our most successful companies to run their operations from right here in Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan is home to some of the best and brightest people in the world, with many untapped resources available to us. Let's continue to support growth - together we can shape a tremendous future for our province. I encourage all of you to get out and cast your ballot on November 7th and remember...let's grow Saskatchewan.
Steve McLellan, CEO Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce
