Calling all artists and photographers!
The Godfrey Dean Art Gallery is has announced a call for artists for the 2011 Landscape and Memory exhibition, featuring art and photography by local and regional artists.
The theme is intended to be very inclusive. The ideas of Landscape and Memory can refer to all kinds of images and media including traditional landscapes and wildlife, photographs that capture memories, portraits of people and places, and even travel images that reflect the landscapes and memories of far away places. Sculpture, fabric art and other forms of expression are welcome.
"We want to make sure the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery maintains a strong connection and represents the local artist community," says gallery director Donald Stein.
"The annual Landscape and Memory exhibition allows us to showcase the tremendous range of talent that we enjoy in our communities. It's a chance to engage and encourage local artists to share their work with the public.
"And as always, the gallery encourages you to consider urban and cultural landscapes as well as traditional ideas of landscape. For example, images of tattoos take place on the landscape of the body. We look forward to your imaginative responses!"
