Prevention is the only cure for brain injury.
According to statistics brain injury is the number ONE cause of death and disability among children and youth. Each year, 2,200 brain injuries occur in the province.
To raise awareness of this preventable epidemic, the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association (SBIA) is holding the 9th Annual Positive Steps Walk-a-thon to be held on September 10th in Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Yorkton.
In addition to awareness, the event also raises funds to enhance the quality of life for those living with an acquired brain injury and their families.
Form a team with your friends, family or co-workers to walk, run or wheel in support of brain injury survivors. The highest pledge earner in the province will be rewarded with a grand prize of two tickets donated by Westjet!
Locally the upcoming event will take place Saturday September 10 at the Gloria Hayden Community Center. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. The walk itself will get underway at 10:30 a.m.
Registration forms and Pledge sheets can be downloaded from the SBIA website at www.sbia.ca.
