As friends and family stayed warm and thought of the upcoming spring break, local Sea Cadet Adam Rusnak, 17, took to the frigid winter waters of the Pacific Ocean, in the beautiful landscape of Vancouver Island's Royal Victoria Yacht Club. Rusnak sailed away with twenty-two other sea cadets from across the prairie provinces.

From March 8-18 twenty-three Sea Cadets and a number of officers from the Canadian Forces took part in the ultimate sea cadet adventure - Wintersail 2012.

Navy Lieutenant Sandra McKay, coordinator for the cadet training event, says, "they are proven dedicated cadets and have been part of the program now for many years. Our premiere sea cadets get this great chance to learn more leadership and sailing skills during this week."

Rusnak has been part of the program for five years. Asked why he joined the sea cadet corps from in Yorkton, he says, "I was in Navy League when I was younger and enjoyed sailing. Now I have travelled with the Cadets all over Canada and had adventures, sailing, travel and great times. I now get coaching from the best on Canada here in Wintersail."
