He might be based out of Yorkton, but his name has garnered international recognition.

Local event promoter, Rob Waloschuk of Performance Promotions Ltd, has just been presented with the International Entertainment Buyer of the Year Award at the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA) Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee Oct. 2 to 4.

Nominees were carefully considered by a nominating committee of their industry peers based on the criteria of excellence and leadership within the industry. Waloschuk attended the 41st annual conference and was presented with the honor where over 500 of the live entertainment industry's top decision makers converge in Nashville every year for the IEBA conference.

"I had no idea this was coming. I'm shocked. It is definitely an honor to be recognized among my peers within the industry" he comments.

He may have been surprised to receive this award, but surprises are not strange to this promoter. Situations can arise within a moments notice and he has to be able to take action. In 2010, he says an illness with Ronnie Dunn forced Brooks & Dunn to cancel their performance at the Dauphin's Countryfest less than 2 weeks prior to the festival.

Immediately after receiving the call, Waloschuk was in high gear to find a suitable replacement. Considering short timing, travel arrangements and battling the Fourth of July holiday over the border, it wasn't an easy feat but with his close contacts and strong reputation within the industry, he was able to secure none other than Keith Urban to perform at the Dauphin's Countryfest.

It is situations like this that demonstrate why he has received the nod of approval.

In addition to producing the Dauphin's Countryfest for the past 21 years, the business, which Waloschuk co-owns with his wife Shelly, presents live entertainment events across the country. Events include the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) in Vancouver, Capitol X in Edmonton and the Calgary Stampede, as well as numerous live shows for fairs and arenas nationwide.
