One of the newest and possibly youngest local owners of a harness racing horse which runs at the Cornerstone Raceway in Yorkton, 16 year-old Samantha Tamblyn, owns half of Sophio Hanover in partnership with Debra McInnes. Apparently the horse was a Christmas present from Max and Deb McInnes. Tamblyn's god-parents.

"My mom owned horses with them before and she moved. Then they bought me a horse and we're part owners," explains Tamblyn.

The four year-old colt is currently being trained and driven by Terry Kaufman. "They said he's the best horse out of B.C., Tamblyn claims.

Tamblyn worked at the track with Brad LeDrew during race nights last year, harnessing the horses for him. She soon became interested in the horses and the sport of harness racing.

"Terry's an excellent trainer and I have a lot of faith that he's going to do good things for our horse," Tamblyn closes.

The first harness meet of the season lasted for only three races, finally succumbing to the rain which has plagued many outdoors sports events this summer.
