Lock him up throw away the key

He brutally murdered his own three children, and just three short years later he's getting out on day passes? If THAT'S not insanity I don't know what is.

He brutally murdered his own three children, and just three short years later he's getting out on day passes? If THAT'S not insanity I don't know what is.

It was April of 2008 when BC resident Allan Schoenborn visited the home of his estranged wife where his children also resided. It was not your ordinary fatherly visit. While his wife was out of the house, Schoenborn stabbed, strangled and suffocated their three young children - daughter Kaitlynne, 10, and sons Max, eight, and Cordon, five. After killing the children, he posed their bodies, knowing his wife, who had moved with the children to escape him, would be the first to find the tragic scene. How sad.

He was 100 per cent guilty of the crime but at his trial, the judge found Schoenborn not guilty of murder by reason of a mental disorder. I understand that mental disorders represent real life conditions, but I will never for the life of me understand how a health issue like this can be used as an excuse for cold blooded murder. Regardless, that was the decision of the court. One would think Schoenborn should at least be tucked away from society in case he should have another mental lapse in judgement. But apparently not so, at least not for long anyway.

The B.C. Review Board ruled last week that after three years in custody Schoenborn is now well enough to leave the mental hospital, where he is being housed, on escorted leaves, at the discretion of the hospital's clinical director.

His ex wife (Darcie Clarke) is beside herself... and can you blame her?

"She feels that if he escapes, the first thing he is going to do is kill her mother... because he knows where she lives," said Clarke's cousin in an interview earlier this week. "He (then) would basically find (Clarke)... and kill her."

Schoenborn's Prosecutor also said Schoenborn is "cagey and not to be trusted. We don't believe he was insane - he killed his own children in order to lash out at his wife. He is an angry and a volatile individual."

We're talking about a man who spent 10 days hiding in the woods after committing murder. When he was finally tracked down he told his captor he was surprised that Clarke had not committed suicide. Now who would YOU say is the real prisoner in this scenario?

Why don't we do the world a favor and if this guy can't suffer the same fate he bestowed upon his small, innocent children, let's at the very least keep him safely locked away.
