THE A EVENT/BMO NESBITT BURNS winner was the Marteniuk foursome of skip Terry Marteniuk, third Raymond Nabe, second Howard Bodnaryk, and lead Ray Galye.

The Yorkton Curling Club (YCC) hosted it's annual men's bonspiel last week, culminating with the finals Sunday afternoon.

YCC manager Neil Weinmaster says the men's spiel attracted 24 area teams after a bit of a struggle which equals the number of competing teams last year. "It's been a good spiel," he states.

The bonspiel featured four events including the A or BMO/Nesbitt Burns Event, B or Implement Dealers Events, which included Morris Indus-tries, New Holland, Maple Farm Equipment, and War-dale Farm Equipment, C or Cymbob's Golf Event and the D or Morris Industries Event.

The men's bonspiel effectively wraps up the YCC season with the exception of the annual mixed funspiel the last weekend in March.

The YCC will host the second annual cabaret Saturday, May 5, a fund raiser put on by the YCC. The dance following the YCC Swing into Spring cabaret will feature a local band, the Crawdaddies.

Advance tickets to the cabaret are $10 per person or $15 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Gal-lagher Centre kiosk, Loucks Pharmacy, the Yorkton Sewing Centre, Audio Warehouse or by calling the YCC at 783-4127.

The A Event/BMO Nesbitt Burns winner was the Marteniuk four--some of skip Terry Marteniuk, third Raymond Nabe, second Howard Bodnaryk, and lead Ray Galye.

Marteniuk says the winning strategy was to make more shots than the opposition. "We played pretty simple," he says of his fourth men's bonspiel win.

The B Event/The B/Implement Dealers Event, including Morris Industries, New Holland, Maple Farm Equipment and Wardale Farm Equipment, was won by the Folk team of skip Larry Folk, Third Bernie Surkan, second Ken Yeadon, lead Derek Kruk.

Skip Larry Folk says the weekend was a lot of fun. It was a good bonspiel. He would have liked to see more teams entered. The team won the B event because of the skip who saved them all the time, Folk jokes. "We curled well, made the shots we needed to and got our breaks. Some of the teams we played against just missed shots that hurt them. We didn't curl that much better than them. We just got the right breaks," he suggests.

C/Cymbob's Golf Event winners, the Inglis rink included skip Lloyd Inglis, third Len Malinowski, second Kelly Halliday, lead Glen Seitz.

Skip Lloyd Inglis says, "The curling gods have to be with you to win any games."

The Sharpe rink claimed the D/Morris Industries Event. The team included skip Warren Sharpe, third Jeff Sharpe, second Ryan McGregor, lead Ivan Sharpe.

"This was a family show," quips skip Warren Sharpe. He says the team played well and consistently all week with the exception of one tough loss to the McIntyre rink which dropped the team to the D Event. His rink enjoyed their third men's bonspiel, he closes.
