The annual York Lake Ladies Open Golf tournament sponsored by Judy Hughes of On Trac Consulting Limited went ahead under ideal conditions says tournament chairperson Sharon Litvanyi. The weather was great and the golf course was in excellent condition.
Unfortunately participation was down a bit, Litvanyi admits, with 39 ladies teeing up Saturday morning. She ascribes the reduction to hosting the annual event at the York lake Golf and Country Club on the same day as a Rider football game as well as the same weekend as the annual Craven Jamboree. It was also the first time the event was held on a Saturday, she notes.
The course was in awesome shape despite the rains, Litvanyi suggests, with the greens playing extremely fast. "It's green all over. Play is really good" she notes.
Both ladies clubs have been holding their own, membership wise. "The year has been a funny year with the rains and the flood in Yorkton recently. It's been tough," Litvanyi says.
She invites any ladies in the area who enjoy golf to come out to join the club. Tuesday nights are fun nights, very laid back with some very good prizes available. She estimates about 30 to 45 ladies golf Tuesday evening. "You don't have to be a good golfer for that," Litvanyi says.
Mondays offer an afternoon of fun golf while senior and retired ladies generally come out to the Wednes-day afternoon events.
Litvanyi thanks the grounds staff for preparing the course. The canteen staff prepared an excellent banquet. She also expressed gratitude to Donna Liebrecht, Don-na Reiten-bach and Gloria Tendig for their help in organizing the tournament.

Championship Flite - Champion Joan Miller (80), 2nd Patti Negrave, 3rd Mary Ozirney, 4th Barb Coleridge. Longest drive - Gloria Kensick. Longest putt - Terri Haas-Pasloski. Closest to the line - Phyllis Pasichnyk. Closest to the pin - Judy Hughes?and Cathy Inglis.
