Visitors to the Yorkton Exhibition Summer Fair had the chance to take in some high-flying stuntwork. Motocross riders Vince Morgan of Phoenix, Arizona and Kyle Demillo of Osoyoos, BC thrilled crowds with their high flying acrobatics on their bikes.
Morgan has been riding for thirteen years, and Demillo has been riding since he was three, though he's been doing freestyle riding for the past three years.
Describing himself as a long time adrenaline junkie, Morgan says that he's been doing freestyle riding from the beginning of the movement. He says he was motivated to do exciting things since he was a kid, and this is one way to fulfill that urge.
"It's kind of a mystery to me how I ended up here sometimes, I guess I had nothing better to do," he notes.
The weekend was marked by wind and a bit of rain on Friday, and Morgan says that the wind makes it more challenging to ride and do the more elaborate stunts. While they've been doing the most elaborate stunts they feel comfortable with, Morgan says that the wind ad a definite effect on the performance.
"It's been just windy so we've been riding anyway and doing the best we can. People like it anyway and I think they just like to see us jump," he notes.
Still, even if the weather didn't cooperate, Morgan says they wanted to put on the best show they could.
He adds, that the people made the fair a good time. He notes that the crowd and the people he met over the three days were the highlight of the fair.
"It's been good, the people here are good. There's a big crowd and it's fun to ride here."
While he says the weather might have been disappointing, he wants to come back to Yorkton and do it all again. He says he hopes the fair has them back, and he also hopes he gets a chance to jump in Yorkton when the wind isn't quite so strong.
"You don't see what we do in such a small town very often, so it's exciting," Morgan says.
