November 4-11 is Veteran's Week in the City of Yorkton and because of that fact a number of events will be taking place in the city in honor of our veterans.

It's an important week for both veterans and residents alike said Harold Petkau, Vice President of the local Royal Canadian Legion to Yorkton City Council Monday evening. It's an opportunity to say thank you and he hopes residents will take the time to get involved.

The week will officially kick off with a special Flag Raising ceremony to be held at the park beside City Hall on November 4 beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Poppy sales will begin October 29 and wreath sales to local businesses will be starting October 28. If you would like a wreath call the Legion at 783-9789.

On November 7 local Veterans will be taking the time to visit local schools to share stories of the past and the week will wind up on the 11th with Remembrance Day Services to be held at the Yorkton Gallagher Centre. From there a lunch will be held at the Legion, followed by an evening supper and entertainment. Tickets for the evening portion are $15 and all welcome to come out.

Call the Legion for complete details on the aforementioned events.
