Who doesn't enjoy a good movie night? And this one is FREE.
The Yorkton Film Festival and the Yorkton Public Library have announced they are hosting OPEN CINEMA once again, with long-time YFF supporter and film aficionado, Elwyn Vermette. Join them at the Yorkton Public Library as they open up the film vaults and bring out some of the best. Yes, it's movie night! It's free. It's fun. Everyone is welcome.
"We would like to kick off the season on October 15 at 7 p.m. with a screening of director Gary Lang's The Real Sherlock Holmes," says Randy Goulden Executive Director of the YFF.
Produced by Ed Barreveld, The Real Sherlock Holmes is a keen, surprising examination of the influence Sherlock Holmes has had on the 21st Century. The film explores the Sherlock phenomenon with reference to the films, TV shows and pop culture adaptations spawned by the great detective. It also explores the widespread influence Sherlock Holmes has had on a plethora of subject matter, be it NASA's quest to explore Mars, computer software and fan culture, the twitter sphere or Britain's MI6 and America's CIA.
"The Real Sherlock Holmes is a thought provoking film - the turn of the century detective's widespread influence on modern life is fascinating. And to be sure, Elwyn Vermette, with his experience in film, will have more questions to add to the discussion.
"Join us for an evening of film and talk at the Yorkton Public Library October 15."
