The Yorkton Minor Hockey (YMH) Peewee teams hosted a 16 team Tier 2 tournament at the Kinsmen Arena over the weekend. Participating teams included the Regina Avalanche, Humboldt Broncos, Warman Wildcats, Regina Capitals, St. Eustache Jets, Flin Flon Bombers, Southey Marlins, Saskatoon Aces, Melfort Mustangs, Prairie Storm Lightning, Kamsack Flyers, Muenster Flyers, Melville Jets as well as three Yorkton teams, including the Yorkton Premier Cabinet Terriers, Yorkton Mark's Work Wearhouse Terriers and Yorkton Perto Canada Terriers.

Tournament coordinator Tanya Nystrom says the event went off very well as usual. The quality of the competition was very high, Nystrom suggests. The teams were very competitive with close games including several overtime contests.

The three Yorkton teams did well. The Yorkton Petro Canada Terriers made it to the B-side semi final before being knocked out. The Marks Work Wearhouse Terriers advanced to the A-side semi-final contest and the Yorkton Premier Cabinets Terriers advanced to the B-side final.

Nystrom thanks tournament title sponsor Everlast Eaves and exterior for their tournament sponsorship. She also expresses appreciation for the support of the event 'digger sponsors' Agri-Coach, FoxFM, Yorkton Concrete Products and Rocen Autosport.

Nystrom appreciates the work of the tournament committee, parent volunteers, coaches and officials.

"Once again Yorkton has outdone itself. Our officials are top notch," she declares.

Finally she offers a huge thanks to the kids. "If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have a tournament," Nystrom closes.

Tournament champs the Kamsack Flyers won the A-side 15-2 over runners-up Melfort Mustangs.

The B-side title went to Yorkton Premier Cabinets Terriers who claimed the 6-1 win over runners-up Muenster Flyers.

The Southey Marlins claimed the C-side 9-4 over the runners-up St. Eustache Jets.

In possibly the most exciting final, the Regina Capitals won the D-side 3-2 over runners-up Melville Jets in an overtime shootout.
