To build a strong economy, it is important to have communication between business and government. For business people in the Yorkton area, an opportunity to discuss issues with government leaders will take place at the Chamber of Commerce Business Dinner on September 21.
The prime rib dinner will see many top officials in Saskatchewan make an appearance, including Premier Brad Wall.
"It's an ideal opportunity to meet with the ministers and senior officials who are in charge of the areas that most affect their particular business. Rather than having to trek all the way to Regina for a meeting with these individuals, it's an opportunity to have them in our home community," says Juanita Polegi from the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce.
Polegi says that business people in the community appreciate the opportunity to get in touch with provincial leaders, and discuss their concerns and needs.
The benefits from the event are not limited to the businesses in the area, Polegi notes. She sees the city as an example of a successful business community, and one which provincial leaders might want to look towards when considering the provincial economy as a whole.
"We're a very thriving community, so if things are going well here, why, and what can they do to make sure that the momentum continues," Polegi says.
With the Premier and other ministers coming out to the event, Polegi believes that the benefits to both businesses and provincial leaders extends beyond a good meal. She hopes for a good turn out, so businesses can meet the ministers which most affect their area of work.
The event will take place at St. Mary's Cultural Centre on September 21, starting at 5:30 p.m. Ticket information is available at the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce at 783-4368.
