Saskatchewan's Minister of Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Rob Norris has announced the Province is donating $265,000 to assist the people of Pakistan. More than 20 million people have been affected by flooding due to monsoon rains in the country, causing widespread destruction and the deaths of more than an estimated 1,600 people.
"The accounts of the devastation and suffering in Pakistan have compelled us to take action. It is the nature of Saskatchewan people to help out when others are in need, and this is no exception," Norris says.
"This money will contribute to the good work that the Red Cross and the HOPE International Development Agency are doing with relief efforts in Pakistan, and I encourage the people of Saskatchewan to take action to help out in any way they can."
